Lunch for tommarow! Spinach, Rice Balls, dried apricots, tamiyagi eggs (scrambled eggs with soysouce, salt and sugar), Carrots, Zucchini, Tamatos, and Broccoli to finish! I can't wait eat to have it! Yum~. Though I really need to work on my presentation of the rice balls. Part of the issue was too much water but eh, it works.

Note, I listed my Rice Balls as a cup, but I think it was more like half a cup so that brings the calorie count down to 340. Argh. I hate measuring things... I should probably keep notes when I'm cooking. Haha.

Looks nice :D I usually go by the ratio portion of 3 parts rice, 2 parts meat/veggies, 1-2 parts fruit/"dessert". Haven't really thought to count calories considering that my bento boxes are actually kinds of small when I really think on it o.o; 650ml - 750ml ^^;

Thank you! I've read that traditional bentos are around what you're describing - 3:2:1. I'm trying to balance my diet out, so the calorie counting is to help separate different carbs + fats I'm eating.

Also, most people are supposed to be eating about 1200 calories a day, so if you think about it the bento boxes actually have quite a lot of food! Maki-chan from justbento.com said that the sizes of the obentos equals about the same for calories. I think the only reason my numbers didn't quite match up is because of the difficulties in measuring. lol.

Lunar was correct. The rice I used for this was sweet rice from Koda farms. Most people, as far as I can tell, say that using sweet rice for Rice Balls is a bad thing but it was the only type of rice available and it was what the lady at the oriental market I went to suggested. I was surprised, too though!

It depends on what you mix in it and also what type of rice. Some rice have more calories than others.
